Religious Education - The First Christmas

In Religious Education we have been learning about festivals that bring communities together. One of those that is widely celebrated at this time of year is Christmas. We would normally be taking a bigger role in the School Nativity play but this year we have learned about the First Christmas in class and the reasons we celebrate Christmas. 

The children would often visit the local church too, where scenes of the Nativity would be displayed. We had a go at doing this in class. Here are our freeze frames of the important scenes from the First Christmas story. 

Jetting off to Australia!

This morning we set up a live link to Australia. The children enjoyed asking my nephew Eddy (who lives in Melbourne) many interesting questions, and we found out lots of new information from seasons and climate to schools and wildlife!

Then it was time to board our flight to Australia. We of course needed our passports and boarding passes.

It's a long flight to Australia!

Time for an in-flight meal.

Then it was the in-flight movie.

Finally, it was time to land in Sydney. 

 We are all looking forward to our Australian adventures. 

Time travelling back to 1666!

We put on our virtual reality helmets and ventured back to 1666. We imagined how the people must have felt and worked together to try and put out the fire. We used axes to make fire breaks and also worked collaboratively to try and find a way to reach safety.
