Design and Technology

We have started our new Design Technology topic of evaluating, designing and making a healthy snack - a dip.

Today we learned about food hygiene preparation. We then found out about three safe cutting techniques:

The Bridge cut

The Claw

The Fork Secure

Everyone did very well so maybe they can help with cooking and preparation of their dinner! 

Habitats

We have been learning about different habitats and how animals adapt to where they live. The children enjoyed selecting their own animal to research. Using the information they gathered about their animal and where it lives they made habitat boxes. They look amazing!

A sticky situation!

We had a fun morning making marmalade sandwiches just like Paddington. We read and followed the instructions carefully, and will use this experience to help us with our instructional writing later in the week. It was a bit like marmite.. many of the children loved eating them afterwards, and others hated it! Here are a few pictures...

Memorable Event - Learn to sew

We have been working on our sewing projects for many weeks now and last week we were finally able to send the finished puppets home!

The children worked very hard to first design what they were going to make, then sew felt together to create the hand puppet.  Lastly, and the best bit for many, they decorated their puppet as close to their design as possible.

They have also evaluated their design and talked about what they learned from the experience.

Here are some of the finished puppets as well as some action photos!  We hope they are being enjoyed at home!  And the children are very proud of themselves for their perseverance and pleased that they have learned a new skill.
