World Book Day!

We listened to lots of stories and especially enjoyed The Smeds and The Smoos by Julia Donaldson. We spoke about the important message in this book and designed our own characters.

The children looked fabulous in their costumes. Thanks for your support with this.

Reinventing The Gruffalo!

After learning the story The Gruffalo the children have begun adapting it to create their own version. They enjoyed thinking of words that rhymed with gruffalo for their new character and wrote some excellent rhyming sentences. Here are a few examples...

Rainbow challenges - Aussie style

The children have really enjoyed our new role play areas! Lots of lovely learning taking place.

They also really enjoyed learning our song about the seven continents and worked hard to colour and label their own maps.

A sticky situation!

We had a fun morning making marmalade sandwiches just like Paddington. We read and followed the instructions carefully, and will use this experience to help us with our instructional writing later in the week. It was a bit like marmite.. many of the children loved eating them afterwards, and others hated it! Here are a few pictures...

World Book Day

The children had a lovely World Book Day!  Their costumes were amazing and they enjoyed finding out all about the different characters their classmates came as.  It was business as usual in the morning but the children loved wearing their costumes whilst doing maths and English activities.  After lunch, the whole school went into the hall to hear which stories were being shared by the adults before choosing which one they would love to listen to.  Later on, we made bookmarks and enjoyed a class story of our own.  Such a lovely day celebrating reading and books with people all over the world.  And thank you for all the effort that was put into the costumes!
